Friends of Brockley and Ladywell Cemeteries 11th Anniversary Open Day, Sunday 8th July 2018 from 11am to 4:30pm

Please join us for our 11th anniversary Open Day on 8th July 2018, from 11am to 4:30pm.

There will be FREE guided walks of the Cemeteries visiting the graves of sportsmen, poets, war veterans and local figures as well as flora and bird life. Times for guided walks will be 11:30am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm, 2:30pm and 3:30pm

In addition there will be a photographic exhibition of monuments and wildlife in the Ladywell Chapel, refreshments and a plant stall.

Forthcoming meetings & events

General meetings are held in January and June (AGM). Meetings are held in the Chapel in the Ladywell Cemetery. Volunteer workdays, under the guidance of the Council Bereavement Services staff, generally take place on Sundays in alternate months NEXT MEETINGS .GUIDED WALK SUNDAY 18th FEBRUARY Tin Hats and Tin Poppies. This walk has been postponed until later in the year. WORK SESSION SUNDAY 18th FEBRUARY 10am – 12pm Work session. Meet at the Brockley Cemetery gate. Please let Geoffrey know if you are able to attend this session (geoffrey@foblc.org.uk) in case of last-minute changes. NATURE’S GYM WORK SESSION SATURDAY 24th FEBRUARY 11am – 1pm Members are invited to join volunteers from the Council’s Nature’s Gym group to undertake work in the cemeteries. Tools are provided. Meet at the Ladywell Cross of Sacrifice. ILLUSTRIOUS LADIES TOUR SATURDAY 9th MARCH 2pm This tour, led by Jane Hart, tying in with International Women’s Day on 8th March, will explore the lives of some of the women commemorated in the two cemeteries. Meet at the Ladywell gate. NATURE WALK SUNDAY 21st APRIL 10.30am – 12pm This popular guided walk exploring the plants and wildlife will be led by Tom Moulton and Peter Robinson. The burial records of the Cemeteries in Lewisham, including Brockley and Ladywell, have been scanned and digitised under an arrangement between the London Borough of Lewisham and Deceased Online. Heritage Lottery Fund Projects

FoBLC acknowledges the financial support of the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Ladywell Ward Localities Fund in making possible the project to record the history of a few of the civilian victims of bombings during the First World War, who are memorialised in the Brockley and Ladywell Cemeteries

Here are some projects that have been realised thanks to that support:
